Yet, there are rumblings already that voters may be a bit displeased with President Trump, even this early. The Economic Times has noted that his approval rating has dropped, which could destabilize the Republicans in the future US Presidential Election. Could this be the push the Democrats need to get back in power?

Politics in the US- The Outlook in 2025
It might seem a long way off, but the 2028 US Presidential Election is scheduled to occur no later than November 7, 2028.
For some voters, this can seem like an eternity, but both the Democrats and some of the Republicans have already started to look for the next candidate to take over office following President Trump.
According to CNN, there are currently more red than blue states. In simple terms, this means that there are more states that vote Republican (current number 23) than states that vote Democrat (16). There are, of course, swing states, which have historically gone for either the Republicans or the Democrats, with some of the most noted ones being Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Nevada.
Which Party is More Likely to Win?
This is hard to answer because the political landscape can change quickly, especially if there are scandals or if potential candidates drop out of the race.
At the time of writing in 2025, the Republicans are dominating in elections that are occurring in 2025 and 2026. The Kentucky Senate seat, currently occupied by veteran Republican Mitch McConnell, is predicted to be filled by another Republican by the end of 2025.
The Mayor of New York is also predicted to be a Republican Candidate, with Andrew Cuomo being exceedingly popular with voters. However, the Democrats have started the hunt for their candidate for the election early, allegedly starting in January 2025.
Can Donald Trump Be Re-elected?
He was popular when he was voted in, and while many Trump and Republican voters think that President Trump can be voted in again, this is not true. A President can only have two terms in office, and they don’t have to be consecutive to count.
Who Can Vote in the Presidential Election 2028?
To vote in the US Presidential Election in 2028, voters must meet the following criteria:
- Be a US citizen. This includes US citizens living in other countries at the time of the election. You can also vote in US elections if you are a dual citizen who is either living in the United States or are living abroad at the time of the election.
- Meet your state’s residency requirements. You can be experiencing homelessness but still qualify to vote based on the state you reside in.
- Are 18 years old on or before Election Day.
- Be registered to vote in your state of residency.
