Four!
When the average person is asked to think about a golfing event, they will think of the US Open. It’s easy to see why.
In 2024, the US Open was only allowed to hold 45,000 fans due to safety and the size of the course itself. However, online and via streaming, the event attracted around six million viewers. So, it’s highly likely that the tickets to go to the event were snapped up pretty quickly as the nation’s love of golf continues to grow.
With the 2025 US Open just around the corner, fans of golf are intrigued by the numbers the event will pull this year, as well as who is likely to win. So, if that sounds like you, everything you need to know is right here.

History of the US Open
Golf is far from being a new sport, and the first US Open was held in 1895, taking place on October 4, at the Newport Country Club in Newport, Rhode Island. The competition had 36 holes and was completed in a single day by ten professionals and one amateur.
At the time of writing, the golfers who have won the most US Opens to date are Willie Anderson, Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, and Jack Nicklaus, each winning four times each. Unsurprisingly, world-famous golfer Tiger Woods is not far behind, having won three times.
