The Block, an Australian reality TV series, will return for its 20th season this August with a new batch of couples.
The popular home renovation show will gather five couples and present each one with a house to transform within a set budget, overhauling a specific room or space each week.
The big question is: what can we expect from this year’s show and when will it air?
When Will The Block Air in 2024?
At present, The Block doesn’t have an official start date; however, based on past seasons, it is likely to have an early August premiere.
The hit show is typically aired on the first weekend of the month on Channel Nine; however, the recent trailer suggests it will air after the Olympic Games has concluded on August 11, 2024.
A later date isn’t the only difference to the show, as it has moved from Melbourne to the scenic coast of Phillip Island.
Who are The Block Presenters and Judges?
Scotty Cam will return to his role as The Block’s host, undoubtedly bellowing his famous “Tools Down” call, and will be joined again by Shelley Craft for various challenges.
Shayna Blaze and Darren Palmer will return to their roles as judges, but Neale Whitaker has announced he will not return to the show as he wants to spend more time with his partner, who has recently experienced health issues.
Instead, he will be permanently replaced by real estate guru Marty Fox, who temporarily covered for Neale during his absence in season 19 and proved a big hit with fans.
Neale isn’t the only person who will be stepping back from The Block, as Foreman Keith has announced he will not have a major role due to traveling difficulties to Phillip Island and will hand most of the reigns over to Dan Reilly.
What Couples Will Appear on The Block 2024?
The following brand-new batch of couples will appear on The Block 2024:
- The Blue Team: Engaged couple Jesse, a 29-year-old carpenter, and Paige, a 27-year-old claims assistant.
- The Yellow Team: Ricky, a 34-year-old plumber, with his best mate Haydn, a 37-year-old IT worker.
- The Purple Team: Newlyweds Kristian, a 31-year-old electrician, and Mimi, a 28-year-old restaurant manager.
- The Green Team: Married parents Brad, a 32-year-old plumber, and Kylie, a 37-year-old hairdresser.
- The Red Team: Married couple Grant, a 29-year-old business development manager, and Courtney, a 32-year-old furniture designer.
There have, however, been rumors that one of the above couples dramatically quit the show a few weeks into filming, causing much chaos on set. The duo has reportedly been replaced by a new couple, Maddie and Charlotte, who were unhappy with the past contestants’ design choices.
Also, avid fans of The Block will be happy to know that many former contestants and past winners will return throughout the show, including last year’s favorites Eliza and Liberty, as well as Tom and Sarah-Jane (2022), Jimmy and Tam (2020), Ronnie and Georgia (2019 & 2021), and Omar and Oz (2022).
