Everyone’s favorite 90s video game character will return to the big screen in 2024, as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be coming to a movie theater near you this December.

It’s the third installment of the adventure comedy based on the popular Sega video game series and the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022).

Many of the movie’s much-loved faces (and voices) will reprise their roles while some new actors will join the all-star cast.

What’s the Release Date for Sonic the Hedgehog 3?

The release date for Sonic the Hedgehog is shaped by where you live in the world.

For instance, if you live in Greece or Portugal, it be released on December 19, 2024, and it will arrive in US, Canadian, and Norwegian movie theaters on December 20, 2024.

However, other countries, such as the UK, Australia, and Mexico will need to wait a little longer, as it will be released on December 26, 2024.

Who Will Star in Sonic the Hedgehog 3?

Ben Schwartz will return to voice Sonic the Hedgehog once again and will be joined by Colleen O’Shaughnessy as his best friend Tails, and Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna.

James Marsden, who plays the adoptive father of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, will reprise his role in the live-action cast, alongside Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski, and Jim Carrey as Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

Also, Keanu Reeves will join the all-star cast, playing the red-striped Shadow the Hedgehog.

Krysten Ritter, James Wolk, Jorma Taccone, and Sofia Pernas will reportedly appear in the movie, but their roles haven’t been disclosed yet.

Paramount Pictures hasn’t released an official budget for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but it is likely similar to the first two movies, which had a $90-110 million budget.

As the first movie grossed $319.7 million at the box office, and the second installment surpassed the figure, earning $405 million, the pressure is on for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to perform well in movie theaters worldwide.

Is There an Official Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Trailer?

Paramount Pictures has yet to release an official trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but it did provide a small snippet of the movie’s footage at Cinema Con in April 2024. However, many movie fans believe the trailer will likely be released at the same time as Transformers One.
