The RIBA Stirling Prize was first awarded in 1996 and recognizes the best new architecture in the UK.
For nearly 30 years, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has awarded the prize to the worthiest structures with exceptional architectural quality, ranging from innovative residential developments and community spaces to new schools and superb social housing projects.
Six fantastic architectural projects are currently in contention to win the prestigious award this year, which will be announced in October.

When Will the RIBA Stirling Prize 2024 Winner Be Announced?
The RIBA Stirling Prize ceremony will be held on October 16, 2024, and the winner will be announced during the event.
Who Has Been Shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2024?
Six projects have been shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2024, but only one can win.
The following projects have been shortlisted:
- Chowdury Walk (A new generation of council homes by Hackney Council)
- The Elizabeth Line (A high-frequency rail service in London and its suburbs)
- King’s Cross Masterplan (An urban regeneration project in London)
- National Portrait Gallery (A transformation of the famous London art gallery)
- Park Hill Phase 2 (A regeneration of the grade II* listed estate near Sheffield Town Centre)
- Wraxall Yard (Suitable Dorset accommodation for people with disabilities)
Who is Likely to Win the Award?
Any of the shortlisted projects are worthy of the RIBA Stirling Prize 2024. However, King’s Cross Masterplan and The Elizabeth Line are strong contenders due to the projects’ costs, as well as the incorporation of safe architecture into the designs.
Who is Eligible for a RIBA Stirling Prize Nomination?
Only RIBA Chartered Architects and International Fellows are eligible to receive a nomination for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2024.

What to Expect at the Ceremony?
The RIBA Stirling Prize 2024 is the first award announcement you will hear at the ceremony. It will be followed by the Stephen Lawrence Prize, Client of the Year Award, Neave Brown Award for Housing, and the Reinvention Award.
Guests can buy an individual ticket or a table for ten to attend the event. All attendees will receive Taittinger champagne at the welcome reception, as well as a three-course meal and after-ceremony entertainment.
