Who Can Participate?

If you are a whizz with Microsoft Excel, you might be happy to learn that the Financial Modeling World Cup is open to everyone, regardless of age, race, gender, or circumstances.

Like every year, the 2025 participants have been assigned the U-25 (born in 2000 or later) or Open group.

The assigned group will not change throughout the season, even if participants have their 26th birthday during the event.

How Much Does It Cost to Participate?

Participants will need to pay a fee of $25 per stage to compete in the annual competition. However, the event is free for students.

What Happens During Each Stage?

Each stage of the Financial Modeling World Cup will provide participants with three case studies, including real-life problem-solving questions they’ll need to solve using their financial modeling expertise.

The cases will feature between four to 25 questions that participants must answer correctly to progress to the next stage. The question complexity will vary, and the most complicated questions will give participants more points.

As the cases will not feature standardized questions, participants should expect number type-in or multiple-choice questions.

After the eight stages are complete, the finalists will participate in the FMWC finals, which will feature the three rounds below over three days in December:

  • A Last Chance Qualification Round (Day One) – 15 players and a wild card will advance to day two
