The Outrun debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2024. A month later, it was screened in the Panorama section at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival.
After its screening at the 2024 Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival, The Outrun will enjoy a theatrical release in the UK on September 27, 2024. However, movie lovers in Germany will need to wait until November 7, 2024, to watch it.
According to StudioCanal, the movie will be released in France and Austria. Also, it will arrive in movie theaters in the United States and Canada on October 4, 2024.

Nora Fingscheidt wrote and directed The Outrun. She wrote the screenplay alongside Amy Liptrot, a Scottish author, and it is based on a story Liptrot wrote with Daisy Lewis, inspired by Liptrot’s 2016 memoir of the same name.
